Product Description: Blood on the Mountain is the first book to recount the full story and reveal the many secrets of The Temple Mount of Jerusalem. It is a tale of bloodshed, human greed and depravity, unparalleled in history. Today the Mount is a walled complex with at its centre the famous Dome of the Rock, which covers a small area of exposed mountain known as the As Sakhra or Foundation Stone. Traditionally the birthplace of monotheism, where Abraham prepared the sacrifice of Isaac, the stone is believed to mark the location of King Solomon's Temple which contained the Ark of the Covenant. Solomon's Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BC, and the Second Temple, built by Herod, became the focal point for much of Jesus' ministry. The As Sakhra is also sacred to Muslims as the place where Muhammed ascended into heaven on his night-time journey from Mecca. But despite such spiritual associations, the Temple Mount remains historically the most violently disputed single location on earth; more human blood has been spilt per square metre of its surface than at any other man-made human location in known civilisation, and as the Millennium draws to a close, and militant religious attitudes harden in Israel, the threat of renewed human bloodshed, on a massive scale, persists. This is a revelatory book, containing a central line of detection which unfolds on many levels of history, archaeology and faith. The story contains some of the most famous characters of history: King David, King Muhammad and Lawrence of Arabia. Blood on the Mountain exposes the true historical origins, and the real motives which lie behind the activities and involvement of such organisations as the Knights Templar and the Freemasons, and reveals new evidence about the physical properties and fate of the Ark of the Covenant.

Synopsis: A covert unit of British SAS, US Delta Force, CIA and British intelligence operatives was formed during the build up to the Second Gulf War to carry out top-secret operations in Northern Iraq. Officially they didn't exist. To ensure the stability of Northern Iraq, these men were sent to recruit the Kurdish Peshmerga guerrillas to join the invasion. This ultra-clandestine mission was headed up by Niall Arden, an SAS veteran and black operations specialist. Desert Fire is the extraordinary story of one mission and how his unit was compromised three times - and how each time they managed to escape from an enemy hell-bent on hunting them down. Cornered and desperate, the men of the unit resorted to superhuman efforts to survive as they were thrown into a bloody, mind-numbing close-quarter combat. But even as they fought for their lives, they began to realise they had been sent on a mission that was not all it seemed!

Product Description: A reconstruction of Sir John Franklin's ill-fated Arctic expedition of 1848 when the HMS Terror and HMS Erebus disappeared. This study was made possible by the discovery of a bleached human skull, found by the team working with anthropologist Dr Owen Beattie on 29 June 1981. This led to 3 further scientific expeditions over the next five years, during which time more information was pieced together. The bodies of 3 Victorian seamen were found on King William Island, well preserved by the permafrost for 133 years which enabled twentieth century forensic and anthropological scientists to uncover the mystery. Also revealed were the circumstances by which the surviving members of Franklin's elite naval forces came within sight of the Northwest Passage, which was their journey's goal, only to succumb to the horrors of starvation, scurvy and cannibalism. Included is a photographic record of the excavation with maps and illustrations and the conclusions reached by twentieth century forensic and anthropological scientists.

Product Description: In plentiful detail from a huge range of historical sources, Secrets of the Samurai plots the development, principles and effects of the samurai culture of feudal Japan. Authors Oscar Ratti and Adele Westbrook have furnished details on the weapons, techniques, strategies and principles of the samurai's martial art, rescuing this vanishing lore for modern readers who may wish to incorporate it into their own martial arts training. Yet this best-selling book is predominantly a panoramic survey of the tumultuous early struggles of warlords contending for political ascendancy, shiftless samurai who terrorized the countryside, and those formidable warriors who protected the goods, well-being and values of their neighbors.
